The Magnificent Tree Frog (Litoria splendida) is also known as the Splendid Tree Frog.  It is very similar in appearance to White’s Green Tree Frog except that is has bright orange on its inner legs, groin and thigh area.  It is also markedly different in that it possesses a large, bulbous gland on the top of its head.  Their skin is smooth with the colour ranging from a dark olive to a bright green, usually dependent on location.  Their body is also scattered with yellow or white blotches.  Their bellies are white and granular.  They grow to around 10cm in length. 

Location & Habitat: The Magnificent Tree Frog is found to range from the Kimberley Division in Northern Western Australia, spreading into part of the North West of the Northern Territory.  They are found sparsely distributed in the escarpment country of WA, living in rock crevices and caves.  They will  also Inhabit man-made developments such as shower blocks, water tanks and toilets.

 Basic Set-Up: The Magnificent Tree Frogs are an easy to keep species of frog with the enclosure being set up in the same way that White’s Green Tree Frogs are kept.  Their basic requirements are a regulated source of heat, UV light and high humidity.
